Bits of Tid: July 22, 2009

  • This is all I'll say about the Obama birth certificate 'issue:'
    1. It's not really an issue. If it was, why weren't questions raised about it during the campaign?
    2. They're criticizing him on this because they can't justify criticizing his policies.
    3. Shame on those in the media who even cover it, even those who slam the conspiracy theorists. Why? The time they spend covering it could be better spent covering serious issues. Like, say his 'mom jeans.'
    4. Where's Reagan's birth certificate?
  • Oakland, CA, will now tax marijuana, thanks to a proposal approved by more than 80% of voters. That's what I've been thinking: Legalize it and tax the hell out of it!
  • Who said it?
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
So said retired General - and Republican Commander-in-Chief - Dwight Eisenhower in 1953. Those words came to m mind as I heard the encouraging word that the US Senate has voted to cut off funding for the F-22.
  • The Public Option: Not only would it be sound healthcare policy, it's also a money-saver.
  • From the State News: "Police absorb info on string of thefts." It's about tampons. And the puns don't stop there.

1.It was a huge issue during the campaign but we couldn’t get anyone to listen until the lawsuits started getting play in the press

2.That’s the funniest statement I read yet. Criticizing him is the easy part. Getting him to prove he’s a natural born U.S. citizen is the hard part. Especially after he has spent $950K with 10 law firms to hide his past and his signing a Executive Order his first day in office to prevent any personal records from being released without his prior authorization.

3.That should be shame on the media for not covering it earlier. This could have all been prevented prior to the election. If it comes out later that he’s not qualified under the constitution to be POTUS, just think of the mess that will cause. It will completely invalidate everything he’s signed into law and he could be brought up on charges.

4.4. Now you’re just being stupid. When McCain was running, they held congressional hearings to see if he was qualified under the constitution because he was born in Panama on a U.S. military base. They ruled that it considered U.S. soil and thus he was eligible. Mombosa, Kenya is not U.S. soil. The question to ask is where’s the congressional hearing on whether or not Obama qualified.

Here’s the last I’ll say on the issue. If Obama is a US citizen, why won’t he prove it instead of hiding all of his records from public view? Including, but not limited to: Kindergarten records
Punahou school records
Occidental College records
Columbia University records
Columbia thesis
Harvard Law School records
Harvard Law Review articles
Scholarly articles from the University of Chicago
Passport(s)
Medical records
Files from his years as an Illinois state senator
Illinois State Bar Association records
Any baptism records
Obama/Dunham marriage license
Obama/Dunham divorce documents
Soetoro/Dunham marriage license
Adoption records
Long form birth certificate

First of all, I appreciate that you feel the need to spend your time commenting about this. It validates me and my efforts to make our society better off and more progressive!

Secondly: Even the far-right says you're wrong.

Third: Where IS Reagan's birth certificate? Prove to us that he was born in the US, unless you want me to make a big stink about him not being a native-born American.
